Summary - Final Post


This last Blog entry should be used to sum up the whole time here in Finland a bit and to give this whole Blog a suitable ending. Therefore, I have to say that before I came to Finland, I was pretty skeptical about what I should expect from that year abroad.

The year developed totally different from what I expected to happen. Everything went pretty well for me and I am very thankful for all the nice people I met, all the nice activities I was able to attend and every minute I could spend in this fantastic country.

Finland just overwhelmed me with pretty much everything it offered to me. So I think it is time for me to give something back and this is a big THANK YOU. A thank you that goes out to all the people that made my stay so special, for example, my teachers, my classmates, my roommates, my international and Finnish friends and especially my tutor.

This time here will be forever in my head and in my heart. It was for me so far the best time in my life and has influenced me in many ways. My language skills, my cultural awareness, my view of the world and my connection to people have changed Finland for the better.

This was my story and my experiences during my stay in Finland. And finally, there is not much more to say.

Finland, you will forever be in my heart.

What is this Blog about?

The first of my Blog posts should be used to give you as the readers an idea of what the whole Blog should be about and what the people are that I am addressing it to. The main goal for that this Blog should aim is to make it easier for students that just arrive or will arrive in the future to make their way in Finland and especially in the area of Turku. Tallinn

Tallinn, the capital of Estonia is situated on the Baltic Sea and is the cultural centre of the country. The most famous sights are the cobblestone old town surrounded by a city wall with numerous cafés and shops and the 15th century defence tower Kiek in de Kök. Tallinn's historic town hall square is dominated by the Gothic town hall with a 64-meter-high tower, which was built in the 13th century. The Nikolaikirche, a 13th-century landmark, displays ecclesiastical art. Tallinn is best reached by ferry from Helsinki. The journey to the port of Helsinki is easy by train or bus. There you change to the ferries of Eckeröline, Viking Line or Tallink Silja. In a little more than 2 hours you can reach Tallinn and can walk directly from the port in a few minutes to the old town and spend a great day. Arriving in Finland

When I arrived in Finland in August 2019, this was the first time that I went to northern Europe. My trip to Finland started at my home. From there I had to travel approx. 20min to the international Airport of Frankfurt. Since I choose Finnair for the Flight, I went to Terminal 2 there and did all the necessary stuff. (security check, …) In the airplane, it looked pretty much like in every plane. When my flight arrived in Helsinki Vantaa Airport, I felt quite comfortable because the Airport is not that big and there are lots of signs so that it is easy to find the right way out. I went to the baggage claim and received my luggage really fast. After that I had to walk to the train station and took the P train to the central station. There I took and IC-train to go to Turku. The train rides was comfortable and both trains were perfectly on time. The ticket prices were pretty fair – especially the prices for students are really affordable. In Turku, my tutor was waitin
