The city of Turku

Turku, my new home town for almost one year is, in my opinion, one of the best places for students in Europe or even further in the world. It has everything that is needed for education but also for the free time after the studies. The city is multicultural and offers a variety of options in nearly every field. If somebody says that he can’t find anything interesting for him or her, I will just answer to having a closer look and walk through Turku with open eyes. In my opinion Turku is a quite young-acting and modern city that still knows the own historical roots and respects history. My impression is based quite modern architecture next to older wooden buildings or these nice and modern coffee places in old historical buildings. One further aspect that needs to be mentioned is that Turku is a really clean city compared to other bigger cities I have visited so far. The thing that I like the most about Turku is that nobody cares what you are doing (if you stay inside the law).

Why did I choose Finland?

When the decision about my studies abroad was made, I had to think about which region or more precisely which country I prefer. For me, my first choice was already Finland because of its reputation of having one of the world's best educational systems. Good public transport, Euro as currency, the known European lifestyle and the short distance completed my positive picture about Finland and finally influenced me to choose Finland for my time abroad. All in all this seemed for me the perfect mixture for my y

Why did I go abroad?

Going abroad was honestly not really planned when I started to think about going to university. But when I decided to choose some international studies, it was clear that this way would lead me to some foreign country in the future. My studies in Germany are called international technical Sales Management. This means the studies are a combination of engineering and management studies and all that stuff mostly in English. When I started at university in 2018, I was already starting to think, how I should do my stay abroad. One good chance was doing a double degree. So I applied for a double degree but also for just single semesters in different universities in Europe. And finally, it worked out that I got my 1 st choice which was the double degree in Turku AMK. To sum up, the main reason was that for my studies a stay abroad is necessary. But also the interest in new experiences pushed me towards the year abroad.
