Vantaa Airport


Vantaa airport was the destination of my flight from Germany. The connection started in Frankfurt and took around 2 hours 40 mins.

We arrived in Vantaa perfectly on time and could leave the plane without any delay. Stepping into the airport for the first time in my life, I instantly felt comfortable there. Big signs everywhere and LCD-screens showing all the necessary information. (e.g. baggage claim)

When I went to the baggage claim, my luggage was almost there as well. I just had to wait 5 min – very fast service.

After I got my belongings, I was looking for the signs that guide me to the train station. Following these signs, I ended up on the longest escalator I have seen so far. At the train station, I bought a ticket and took the P line train to go to the central station.

I like the concept of Vantaa airport because it seems very organized and makes traveling easy and comfortable.

Tornio

Tornio is a city in the north of Finland with 21,875 inhabitants. It is part of the Lapland region and is located right on the border with Sweden at the mouth of the Tornionjoki River in the Gulf of Bothnia. Tornio forms a twin city with Haparanda on the Swedish side. In my opinion, one should always combine a stay in Tornio with a trip across the border to Sweden. The border is close and entry is easy. In Sweden, the prices are cheaper than in Finland. Tornio was for me and my friends the ideal place to stay overnight and served and afterwards as the starting point of our Lapland road trip.

Mylly

I want to finish the reports about Turkus shopping centers with the biggest one. (At least I think that it is the biggest one) I am also not sure if it is correct to say that it is in Turku because it seems that Mylly is closer to Raisio than to Turku. Mylly is offer an impressive variety of different stores, coffee and food places. There is literally something for anybody. The shop sizes vary a lot as well. There are small shops that are just run by a single shop assistant and then you have the big shops with hundreds of square meters and dozens of employees. Mylly is like Skanssi outside the city but still easy to reach by car or bus. For the ones who own a car I can say that they do not have to worry about a parking slot since there is quite a big number of parking spaces available. I think I have been to Mylly 3 times since I arrived in Turku in August.
